A quilt from a different time.
I recently visited my family in my home town and my grandmother surprised me with this beautiful quilt. I wonder where she’s been hiding this all these years! According to my 81-year-old grandmother, the quilt was made by her grandmother, Sally McGee. What a treasure!
This vintage quilt is made up of 30 ten inch squares and measures about 74 inches by 62 inches. There is some damage to the outside binding, but it’s in pretty good shape.
Here’s a close up of some of my favorite fabrics.
And of course, it is all quilted by hand! I wonder if it was quilted by a group of friends sitting around and gossiping!
Do you have a vintage quilt or a special family quilt that has been passed down? I’d love to see it! Post your pictures in the comments.
